Chateau Rhianfa, Menai Bridge, Anglesey, North Wales
Château Rhianfa isn’t your average country house hotel. What can only be described as a Welsh fairytale, this is the perfect place to withdraw from the world and discover a new one! Recently awarded the most romantic venue in Wales, this enchanting French-style Château boasts the most magical backdrop of mountains and sea.
It’s enchanting French-style architecture and interior design has been maintained with gentle restoration, to ensure the historic charm and unique character of Château Rhianfa will last forever like any true fairy tale should. With 30 rooms available, bold colour combinations have been brought to life with rich fabrics and retro furnishings, striking a sophisticated note that’s very ‘a la mode’. A very special venue, well worth a visit!
Sandy Mount House, Rhosneigr, Anglesey, North Wales
Sandy Mount House is a rustic beach house restaurant with rooms, set in the relaxed seaside village of Rhosneigr on Anglesey. Think beach shack chic: cosy corners, log fires & super stylish interiors. Relax into coastal village life with the sound of the sea on your doorstep, paired with amazing sea views! Rooms are vast with high ceilings and beautiful bespoke joinery aplenty. Sand-bleached parquet flooring and beach-y touches run throughout. The beds are a big deal with some being four posters albeit all are dressed in crisp white Egyptian cotton. The bathrooms at the SMH are also impressive. Expect lots of beautiful glazed tiles, Crittal screens and panelled walls.
The Hotel Portmeirion, Gywnedd, North Wales
A quirky Mediterranean village built by a quirky and innovative man, Clough Williams Ellis. Set in an enchanting Italianate style village on the coast of North Wales, this 4-star luxury venue is Portmeirion’s flagship hotel. Overlooking the sandy beaches of the Dwyryd Estuary in Snowdonia, North Wales, it has 14 stylish bedrooms, a fine-dining restaurant, a bar and terrace and several relaxing lounges. The bar and dining room were re-styled by Sir Terrence Conran in 2005 to recreate the atmosphere of Clough’s art deco walnut panelled rooms. This magical setting is a real treat!
Palé Hall Hotel & Restaurant, Gwynedd, North Wales
An exclusive, independently-owned Victorian country house and restaurant, Palé Hall is an AA Five Red Star, Relais & Chateaux destination hotel set in the idyllic surroundings of Bala, Gwyneddd on the border of Snowdonia. Dating back to the late 19th Century, even Queen Victoria was a fan after her stay in 1889; as was Churchill who stayed on many occasions! The elegance and grandeur of this hotel remains unchanged with it’s stunning architecture and magnificent woodland grounds leading down to the River Dee.
Following a multi-million pound refurbishment in 2016, all 18 rooms have been designed individually with unique decor to create different moods; all with luxury and comfort as standard. Look out for the gallery entrance hall with its vaulted ceiling, the light-filled public areas including the opulent drawing room and tranquil parlour, to the Boudoir, with its hand painted dome and marble bar. The perfect location for a quiet retreat to relax and indulge!
Coed Mawr Hall, Conwy, North Wales
Coed Mawr Hall is a super-stylish boutique B&B nestled in the Conwy Valley, run by a husband and wife team. With stunning views onto Snowdonia National Park,Coed Mawr has six luxurious B&B bedrooms, all individually designed with a very different look – my personal favourite being The Ballroom.
Boasting dreamy bold monochrome striped walls, vintage furniture and contemporary, unorthodox accessories, I just love the edge this room has whilst retaining it’s classical glamour. With a tasteful blend of old and new, Coed Mawr Hall are paving the perfect way to escape to the country in style!
